The Perfect Storm
The thriller The Perfect Guy came in first place at the box office over the weekend, while the new M. Night Shyamalan horror movie “The Visit” placed second.
Perfect stars Michael Ealy and actress Sanaa Lathan and centers on a woman who begins dating a normal-seeming person who quickly reveals himself to be far from what he seemed.
The Perfect Guy has more than doubled its $12 million budget this weekend alone, putting the film in a good place considering the expectations were in the $17 million ramge.
The studio had a similar success on the same weekend last year when “No Good Deed,” a thriller with Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson that debuted to $24.2 million.
Not every new release did as well. Samuel Goldwyn’s 90 Minutes in Heaven failed miserably with the faith-based crowds, earning a meagre $2.2 million across 878 theaters. No doubt that War Room ate a piece of it’s pie.
War Room continues to prove its biblical strenght with $7.4 million in its third weekend in theaters, unfortunately folks are starting to get sick of the preachiness,,
