Sony’s “Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs” casted it’s shadow over the competition this box office weekend.

 

The sequel voiced by Bill Hader and Anna Farris poured in an estimated 35 million toppling the original film‘s 30 million dollar open. With very few family oriented movies on the big screen right now Cloudy 2 should make a nice return on the 78 million Sony spent on making the film. Considering the Disappointment that was Smurfs Sony Films will take it gladly.

Meanwhile, last weeks Box Office winner Prisoners, Starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, heisted 11.3 million this weekend bringing the film‘s total domestic haul to 38.3 million.

 

Ron Howard‘s formula one biopic cruised into third place at 10.3 million, not bad considering it is a formula one biopic.

Baggage claim starring Paula Patton and Don Jon (written, directed and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt take the 4 and 5 spot respectably clearing over 9 million and change each.
