The dog days of summer continue with Alpha hitting theaters alongside two new wide releases.

Hollywood is taking this Year of the Dog thing seriously with the 4th film of the year about canines.  This time it’s got cavemen to boot!  The first major studio film to feature a majority Asian cast since Joy Luck Club releases early on Wednesday with Crazy Rich Asians.  Only took Hollywood 25 years, yay progress.  Finally, Marky Mark has a new, transformer-less action flick due out called Mile 22.  All this and ten new streaming titles to pick from.  Let’s get cracking.

Wide Release.

Alpha.

A young hunter from a prehistoric tribe gets separated from the group when wolves attack.  Stranded with an injured wolf pup, the pair must fight for survival and form a bond that will change the destiny of both their packs.

Crazy Rich Asians.

A young woman from New York heads to Singapore with her boyfriend, only to discover that he’s from one of the wealthiest families in the world.

Mile 22.

A team of covert operatives must protect a police officer who holds sensitive information and is being targeted by assassins.

Two pampered teens live with their famous grandmother in the Hollywood Hills.  When their luxurious lifestyle becomes threatened, the young man hatches a dark scheme to keep the money flowing.

What Still Remains.

After a devastating viral outbreak destroys civilization, a young woman who has lived apart from humanity her whole life is offered a chance to join a group of survivors. She quickly learns that other people are a dangerous as the plague she lived in fear of.

Bea and Kate are two 13 year olds who meet one summer vacation and form a deep relationship that goes beyond friendship.

Jessa Dixon narrowly survives an encounter with a sadistic killer that leaves her in a coma. She awakens to the report that her father has committed suicide, but her instincts tell her it has something to do with the man who attacked her…and a corrupt police force protecting him.

The zombie apocalypse strikes a hockey team as they celebrate winning the championship.

Jean’s love life gets hectic when her string of secret crushes are all mysteriously sent her private love letters.

Puppet Master: the Littlest Reich.

Edgar finds a mysterious puppet and takes it to a convention, where all hell breaks loose when the puppet creates an army of the toys around him.

Pool Party Massacre.
