The week before Thanksgiving is stuffed with new movies!
The holidays are fast approaching, and Hollywood is hoping to bank big time. Three wide releases hit the theaters this week: Fantastic Beasts 2, which may be one of the biggest non-Disney film of the year; Instant Family, hoping to continue Mark Wahlberg’s dominance of the holiday comedy market; and Widows, which is my pick to be the surprise hit of the year. With snow blanketing the Northeast, there are plenty of rental options this week as well.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) has escaped from imprisonment and is raising an army to overthrow non-magical humanity. Albus Dumbledore recruits Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), the young magical zoologist who thwarted Grindelwald in New York, to help stop the evil magician again.
Pete and Ellie (Mark Wahlberg, Rose Byrne) want to adopt their first child, but they click with a trio of siblings in foster care instead. Going from zero to three children in one big leap proves to be a bigger undertaking than they anticipated, especially since the oldest is a rebellious teenager.
The widows (Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo and Michelle Rodriguez) of four career bank robbers find themselves being squeezed by their husbands’ former bosses after a robbery gone bad wipes out the thieves. Grieving and angry, they decide to pull off their own heist to break free.

A dramatic biopic about journalist Marie Colvin (Rosamund Pike) whose fearless pursuit of stories took her into the line of fire around the globe.
