Prisoners Box office Wrap Up

On a rather quiet box office weekend with only two major releases, Prisoner (21.4) and Chris Brown’s Battle of the year (5m), It is of no surprise that Prisoner topped the punchy R&B artist in the box office. Both had relatively low budgets, Clocking in at 30 and 20m respectively. Both should see returns on their investment however only one will have Oscar aspirations. Sorry Chris, I don’t see you dancing your way into the hearts of the academy.

Insidious followed up at second place with 14.5 million in it’s second weekend in the box office accruing a total of 60.4 million since release. Add this to the long line of horror movies that do not fare well after their initial release.

Insidious Chapter 2 $14.5

The Family  $7.0

Instructions Not Included $5.7

Battle of the Year  $5.0

We’re the Millers  $4.7

Lee Daniels’ The Butler $4.3

Riddick  $3.7

Wizard of Oz $3.0

Planes (7): $2.9
