The Oscars 2019: The Nominations.

The Academy Awards season is officially started as the nominees are announced Tuesday, January 22nd.

Well, it’s that time of year again.  The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has just released their picks for the 2019 Oscars.  In one short month, the big event will kick off on February 24th.  Till then we’ll be working hard to bring you as many reviews for the nominated movies as we can.  Click on the new Oscars 2019 tab above to head right to the reviews!

VOD Review: Roma.Below, we’ve gathered the official nominees.  This year two films stand out with the lion’s share of the nominations:  Aflonso Cuaron‘s intricate drama Roma and Yorgos Lanthimos‘ subversive period drama The Favourite both managed to pull down ten nominations.  You can be sure that Netflix, home to Roma, will be crowing about that result.  Other interesting nominees include Marvel’s Black Panther, which netted seven nominations for the comic book adaptation that set the box office on fire early last year.
