What’s New on Amazon Prime: June 2018.

Amazon adds one new feature film original as well as several new series in June.

What's New on Amazon Prime: June 2018.While it may not seem as gaudy as Netflix’s original offerings, Amazon Prime is having what counts as a busy month!  For originals, we get Wonder Wheel, which was one of the company’s art house offerings that didn’t quite build enough buzz to break into Oscar season last year.  For series, they have follow ups to their successful franchises All or Nothing, Lost in Oz, and the legal drama Goliath…not to mention “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”, but I’m sure you had that marked off on your calendar already.

The movies making their way to prime are an eclectic bunch.  We’ve got critical darlings like The Disaster Artist, Lady Bird, Shutter Island and Doctor Zhivago…and we have the entirety of the Leprechaun series.  On the whole, the offerings are quite strong this month, and I’m not just talking about Leprechaun 5: Back to Tha Hood!  I’m glad to see that Braven made it to streaming services sooner than later; the Jason Mamoa led action drama about a lumberjack had a very limited release and never made it to my neck of the woods.

That’s right, I’ll make all the backwoods puns I like, Aquaman!

Prime Original Movies.

The sole original film is Wonder Wheel, the story of four individuals whose lives intersect at Coney Island in the 1950’s, where the fading glory of the fabled amusement park contrasts with their fading prospects in post-war America.  It stars Kate Winslet, Justin Timberlake and Juno Temple.
