What's New on Netflix: April 2021.

Netflix brings a ton of variety to April, including big movies with Idris Elba, Toni Collette, and Octavia Spencer.

April may be spring cleaning month for most people, but Netflix isn’t letting any cobwebs settle on their offerings for the month. You’d think they’re gearing up for next year’s Oscars before this year’s ceremony is even over; April showcases some of the biggest actors in the business in movies sure to make waves with critics and audiences. Check out our listing below of the most notable selections – though our usual three picks hardly seemed enough to cover all the interesting shows and movies hitting streaming this month.

New and Notable.

  • Concrete Cowboy (Apr. 2)

Sent to live with his estranged father for the summer, a rebellious teen finds kinship in a tight-knit Philadelphia community of Black cowboys.

After the amazing Beasts of No Nation, I’ll watching anything Idris Elba teams up with Netflix for.

  • Thunder Force (Apr. 9)

In a world where supervillains are commonplace, two estranged childhood best friends reunite after one devises a treatment that gives them powers to protect their city.

This looks like a return for Melissa McCarthy to her earlier comedic style, and I’m always interested in seeing what Octavia Spencer can do with a curve-ball script.

  • Stowaway (Apr. 22)

On a mission headed to Mars, an unintended stowaway accidentally causes severe damage to the spaceship’s life support systems. Facing dwindling resources and a potentially fatal outcome, the crew is forced to make an impossible decision.

This hard science fiction has a packed cast and a sharp edge. Looks gripping.
