What's New on Netflix: January 2021.

Out with the old year (thank goodness!) and in with some new movies on Netflix.

Well. That was a year, all right. It’s almost over, unless the nukes are already in the air between now and when this article posts, but I can only manufacture so many reasons to justify my bourbon whiskey budget, so let’s assume this posts on the internet instead of a nuclear slag heap. What has Netflix got cooked up for us to kick off the new year?

Nicolas Cage swearing his head off in a natty suit?

Fine. I’m in. Let’s see what you got, Netflix.

What's New on Netflix: January 2021.
I’m ready. Let’s do this.

New and Notable

  • Headspace Guide to Meditation (January 1)

Headspace takes a friendly, animated look at the benefits of meditation while offering techniques and guided meditations to jump-start your practice.

You know what? It’s January 1st, 2021 and I think a breezy introduction to meditation is exactly what’s called for after the raging dumpster fire that was last year!

  • The History of Swear Words (Season 1, January 5)

Nicolas Cage hosts this proudly profane, funny and engagingly educational series about the history and impact of the most notorious English swear words.

You’d have thought we’d hit peak Nicolas Cage by now…but it just keeps going strong. I like silly history AND Cage pretending we’re not all here just to see him drop f bombs all over the place.

  • Outside the Wire (January 15)

In the near future, a drone pilot sent into a war zone finds himself paired with a top-secret android officer on a mission to stop a nuclear attack.

Anthony “Captain Falcon” Mackie in a sci-fi war thriller? Sounds good, do it up.
