Netflix August 2016

new to netflix july 2016

Phew what a roller coaster of a month! I’ve been out of commission due to a promotion and relocation that had me living out of a hotel the past month, and now that I am finally moved into my new place I am itching to get caught up on my Netflix VOD!

Unfortunately I’d been better served if I was off the grid for the month of August, looking at the line up Netflix has to offer. Not a horrible month if you are into comedy, and probably a pleasant surprise if you are into kid films. Other than that not much to see here.

My Picks:

Funny Or Die Presents: Donald Trump’s Art of the Deal: The Movie

While I don’t think Art Of The Deal: The Movie has the legs to entertain for the duration, this movie has a few things going for it:

  • Johnny Depp is a train wreck professionally and personally atm, so that’s worth a look.
  • Donald Trump will most likely make an incidinary tweet in regards to this film and quickly delete it.
  • Dudes at FOD are hilarious

Zack And Miri Make A Porno

Perhaps Kevin Smith shouldn’t have left the View Askewniverse and ventured into Apatow country but he gave it the old college try, and Zack and Miri never quite got the love or attention it deserved, for whatever reason. That being said, While Zack and Miri may not be the 40 Year Old Virgin or Knocked Up, It’s still has plenty to offer.

No Country for Old Men

I can’t imagine a world where someone that has access to the internets has not seen this movie. The Coens are masters of their craft and it just doesn’t get better than No Country for Old Men. One of a few films that is gripping from start to finish, thanks to the deliberate pacing. A masterpiece.

The Road

Haunting. That the only way to describe this film. Nothing about it will make you feel good. True to Cormac McCarthy’s vision, the adaption of The Road is dark and depressing. This is the weakness in both the film and novel. Viggo Mortensen and Kodi McPhee are unbelievable in their performances here, making The Road a must see.
